National Service Scheme, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Govt. of India, popularly known as NSS was launched in Gandhiji's Birth Centenary Year 1969, in 37 Universities involving 40,000 students with primary focus on the development of personality of students through community service. The Motto of NSS "Not Me But You", reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service.

NSS helps the students develop appreciation to other person's point of view and also show consideration to other living beings. The philosophy of the NSS is well doctrined in this motto, which underlines the belief that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society on the whole and therefore, the NSS volunteers shall strive for the well-being of the society. So NSS works out ways and means, promotes programmes& projects for building community better with youth integration and participation. NSS forms a living contact with the community and helps improve quality of community life.

The SCHEME-NSS is a Central Government sponsored scheme operating in the affiliated colleges of the University in collaboration with the state government. The scheme is funded by both Central and State Governments in the ratio of 7:5 to organise Regular Activities (RA) and special Camping Programmes (SCP). NSS works in colleges according to University guidelines.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) of the College has been working out Since 1973. Presently, there is a single unit of NSS in our college.Presently,MrLaldhari Singh is acting as the programme officer. The unit consists of 50 volunteers (boys only). The main objectives of National Service Scheme (NSS) of our College are to:

  • understand the community in which they work
  • understand themselves in relation to their community
  • identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem-solving
  • develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility
  • utilise their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems
  • develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities
  • gain skills in mobilising community participation
  • acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes
  • develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters and
  • practise national integration and social harmony


The NSS wing of our college provides extension services to the community and societyat large.It underlines that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society as a whole. Our college has been in the forefront of NSS activities.The impetus is to give the students best educational experience in order to make them responsible and productive citizens of the country. It has undertaken many socially and environmentally viable programmes which are very much helpful to the mankind; service is our motto.
